WI-VOD

What We Do
By working with communities that have little or no current high-speed bandwidth services, WI-VOD fills a clear void left by other municipal WI-FI players and the broadband offerings of traditional cable and telephone companies. WI-VOD does not believe in a "build it and they will come" deployment model. Our deployments are focused at strategic locations enabling both rural communities and mobile professionals to be serviced by a common infrastructure under a single service model. Building the footprint, WI-VOD qualifies truck stops, travel plazas, government agency offices and other locations to serve as primary points of entry supporting community coverage.

Each community is different, so we work with community leaders, chambers of commerce and local "champions" to identify specific needs. With our Shared Infrastructure philosophy we make the our MobileSOHO network solution as cost effective as possible allowing various interests to leverage the advantages of enhanced broadband access, including:
  • Residents
  • Private Business
  • Government Agencies
  • Educational Institutions and School Boards
  • Private and Public Safety and Security Organizations
(including First Responders, such as Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and so on.)
  • Community Organizations and Agencies, and
  • Other Organizations supporting economic development
As each community is deployed, our end-users also get the advantage of using their voice and data services while visiting other communities serviced by WI-VOD.

Our technology roadmap enables cost effective migration to revisions of the 802.11 "WI-FI" Standard as well as the evolving 802.16 "WI-MAX" Standard. This path ensures that our communities move at the pace of technology and we implement changes as the benefits can be realized. Our modular configuration enables us to simultaneously deploy various versions of the 802.11 standards, including "a", "b", "g", "I", "n"; as well as include 802.16 (WiMax) standards to support other types of connectivity as they are required. Deploying a standardized technology such as 802.11 (with a roadmap including 802.16 WI-MAX) allows WI-VOD to offer the end-user a low cost of entry, standardized connectivity as well as a multitude of supply channels for ancillary technologies, applications and services.

To date, the overwhelming majority of VOIP providers are focused on servicing major metropolitan broadband users in the office or home environment; whereas WI-VOD is focused primarily at providing voice and data services to mobile and rural broadband users. WI-VOD's Wireless VOIP services extend our office-home service offering to those in Mobile Small Offices/Home Offices, (the "MobileSOHO" enables people to maximize their connection outside their primary place of work.

Each network node that we add to the initial footprint provides connectivity to the primary network while also becoming a link in the chain for future nodes that widen the coverage area. Below, the diagram shows how the solution is able to host connectivity to a number of devices as well as the ability to expand coverage of each WI-VOD meshed area.

With RoamAD as one primary technology allies, WI-VOD's services maximize the best of the world's technology leaders. We are continually enhancing our core services by adding greater support for complimentary applications and integration of more services.
